A GIRL CHILD (Poem) .........

Our sister is dark and comely
the Sun has tanned her skin,
Lovely, endearing and unobtrusive,
In Sub-Saharan heat she bask

Her blooming strength,
The sonorous voice,
Her strong-willed unveils with much enthusiasm,

Stay back and go to that place!
It doesn’t befit your kind.
Keep and bury it within,
Remember "You're just a woman!"

How many dream's been shut,
As out they thirst to move
From yonder unto eyes, the real;
The doors blocked, sadly to be visible

How many brains has been tamed
By arms of culture to chill
She stretched, rearing the skies to soar
Out of Blues, sudden, her wings clipped!

Her wails unseen, still unheard
So sadly shrouded beneath her smiles
Faithful wife, aunt, sure mother-to-be,
Unfilled desires in every woman.
